Programming Python, Fourth Edition

Meant for people who have at least a basic understanding of the syntax of python, this book provides a series of comprehensive tutorials for most common tasks, such making a GUI web application or Network programming, as well as an introduction to the idea of Object Orientated Programming. However, Python is so useful partly due to its ability for rapid development, or extreme programming - and here is where the book fails - having no sections on Testing in python and various ways to achieve it.

There are two sections on making a Python mail client, and CGI server respectively, and I feel at least one of these is extraneous, and should be replaced by a section on Testing.

Overall though apart from these flaws, the book provides a solution to most simple programming tasks in Python

Score: 7/10
